PLWC Groundbreaking

Paragould Light Water & Cable (PLWC), in partnership with the Economic Development Corporation of Paragould (EDC), breaks ground on a 1.5 MW solar power plant.  The building of a solar plant for the city of Paragould has been a long-term goal of previous Mayor, Mike Gaskill, the EDC Board and the PLWC Commission.

The project will make the energy generated from the plant the lowest cost peak power resource in PLWC’s energy portfolio. In addition to that, the plant will provide an additional resource in recruiting industry to the Paragould area. A total of 4,692 solar panels will be installed. When completed, the plant will provide enough electricity to power 203 homes. The site for the solar plant will be located at the intersection of 358 Hwy and 69 Hwy.  The project is expected to be on-line producing electricity by the end of 2021.

Darrell Phillips, Paragould Light Water & Cable’s CEO, stated “PLWC is proud to partner with our long-term friends from Evergy in building this solar project.   This project will continue to promote PLWC’s commitment to clean energy for the future of Paragould.  The electricity from the project will be the lowest cost on-peak resource in PLWC’s energy portfolio and will promote our continued efforts in providing low cost energy for our consumers.”
