Greene County Historical & Genealogical Society

Greene County Historical & Genealogical Society is a private nonprofit corporation run totally by volunteers. The society is open Tuesday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., closed 12:00 to 1:00 for lunch. The society assists people with researching their family and also with finding historical information on Greene County. We maintain a research center with materials that are available for the public to use in researching their families or the history of Greene County.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Moving the old court house records to labeled file folders and organizing files at the old courthouse. We need volunteers to help us with setting up files, organizing files at the old courthouse, and typing of lists.
Indexing of family files. This would be reading through the file and listing the surnames in the file on index cards. Once the indexing is finished, we need help in typing the index cards.
Scanning of negatives. We are scanning old negatives and creating a picture file on the computer.

Mission Outreach of Northeast Arkansas, Inc.

Mission Outreach provides emergency services to the indigent population of Northeast Arkansas. Their goal is to house the homeless, care for the sick and feed the hungry by providing a fresh start, specific help and new hope to all who seek services.

Volunteer Opportunities:
Food pantry on Mondays and Thursdays from 9am-12pm & 1pm-4pm. Volunteers are always needed for the food pantry.

Anyone can serve or cook meals. Breakfast is served at 6am, Lunch at noon, and Dinner at 5pm. To serve, be there about 15 minutes early. You can cook food provided by the Mission, bring food already cooked, or bring food to cook at the Mission. If anyone is under 18, they will need an adult present.

Together We Foster

Together We Foster is a non-profit that serves the foster care community of Northeast Arkansas. We provide support and resources to foster children and their biological families, foster families, protective service cases, and the agencies that are working for the best interest of the child. Together We Foster runs 3 programs on a daily basis- Visit Centers, Manna Meals, and Clothing Closets. All of these resources are free to the populations that Together We Foster serve.

Volunteer Opportunities:
Together We Foster provides weekly volunteer opportunities for all ages at our Clothing Closet. These are different hours each week and you can set up a time to volunteer at the Clothing Closet in Paragould by contacting Mrs. Terry Rowland at 870-476-5405. Tasks will include sorting and hanging clothes and other tasks to keep the closet organized.
